Seit dem 19. Dezember 1975 liegt das Binnenschiff "Uwe" vor dem Elbstrand Blankense. Grund für das gekenterte Schiff waren die Nebelschwaden, die an jenem Winterabend so dicht über der Elbe hingen, dass sie eine folgenschwere Kollision verursachten. Dabei wurde das Vorschiff des Frachters „Wiedau“ von einem polnischen Schiff gerammt und mit einem so starken Stoß Richtung Steuerbord gedrückt, dass es das Binnenschiff „Uwe“ traf und es in der Mitte durchtrennte.
Since December 19, 1975 the barge "Uwe" has been lying in front of the Blankense beach on the Elbe. The reason for the capsized ship was the wafts of fog that hung so close over the Elbe that winter evening that they caused a serious collision.
