Photographed 16 August 2017 / Kodak 1A Autographic Jr. (1914-1927) folding bellows camera with achromatic doublet lens. Camera originally for 116 roll film converted to transport 120 roll film. Film was ILFORD HP5+ metered ASA 250 developed in PYROCAT-HD (5ml A + 25ml B > 600ml, 7min 15sec, 20*C). Negative was illuminated on a light table and scanned with a Pentax k3 DSLR and Rodenstock RODAGON 60mm/4 enlarging lens on an adjustable helicoid extension tube. The image was edited on an iPad mini using the Snap Seed application. Full Frame scan of the 58mm x 110mm negative no trimming. Notice the unique way in which the simple achromatic doublet lens (which is about 100 years old) ‘draws’ or renders and the remarkable sharpness from such a simple lens. This image is exactly like one of those old postcards of the early 20th century and indeed a camera like this old Kodak would have been used to generate such postcards. What a shame 116 roll film and all those other wonderful, large format roll films are no longer available.
