My new purchase: 1992 Skoda Favorit Forum
Well it's been a long time coming and I never thought I'd actually get a second car at last, and I didn't really think it would be another old Skoda!
This Favorit was saved by my two friends who have a collection of classic cars and love Favorits. I say saved, as apparently the previous owner was going to scrap the car because of a head gasket failure. But a post was put up on a Facebook group and my friend saw it, being also located close to where she lives, she had to save it. Great job as it's probably one of the cleanest survivors out there.
They did the work that was needed to get this car back on the road and then offered it to me as they knew how much I was interested in the car right from when I first saw it and knew it would go to the right home!
I've been saving up for a long time to buy a second car, I wanted something a bit older, a bit more special and in great condition. Again, even though I wasn't looking to acquire another Skoda, as it happened, this was the right one to have for me and I'd say came up at the right time too.
It's incredibly covered just 28k miles in 32 years. The interior is pretty much in mint condition and the exterior isn't far off perfect, it's got minimal rust and there are a few scrapes and small dents here and there, but still very good for the age.
This is a series two Favorit, but very little was changed from the earliest models, which means it still has the cool brown/beige interior. Also it is apparently the base model, so it's gone no rear wash wipe, no radio, basic seats and has the slightly slower 135 version of the famous 1289cc Skoda engine.
The only visual change I've done to this car is I put a set of in-keeping Lada Samara wheel trims on, I think they suit it a lot, but also I need to refurbish the original steel wheels soon so that's why.
I will be keeping the Felicia alongside this of course. But the Favorit is too good to use very often, so it will be more of a weekend and show car.
According to HML, this is the only remaining Favorit Forum Hatchback left taxed!
