Etty Hillesum and Anne Frank were the most important chroniclers of life under nazi occupation in WW2 in Holland. In her diaries, which are of great literary value, Etty also offered psychological and philosophical insights into her own life and that of humanity as a whole. She was murdered in Auschwitz in 1943, at the age of 29. She lives on in her literary work.
