Wonga Pigeon (Leucosarcia melanoleuca) Namadgi National Park, Canberra, Australia
One of Australia’s endemic pigeon species is the Wonga Pigeon. They live in dense forest and rainforest habitats of the eastern coast of Australia. They spend most of their time moving along the ground feeding on fruits and seeds. Normally I only hear them when I go to their habitat, and if I do see them they are normally walking along the edges of roads. In Canberra the mountains west of the city have quite a number of Wonga Pigeons.
