Back Door BFT
This year CN has started running loaded BFT (blast furnace trim) trains down the Two Harbors Sub when arriving in Two Harbors. That way the cars can be shoved directly out on the dock from Mud Cut or yarded. Trains are 58 cars (half of the standard 116-car trains operated on the Iron Range Division back in the DM&IR days).
Two consecutively numbered IC (ex-BN) SD40-2s were the power, 6255 and 6256. Nice to see loaded trains using the "back door" into Two Harbors. These BFT trains are equally nice in that they are using old low side ore cars (plus some high sides). There can't be much more than 100 of these low side cars left in service. 5/11/19
