Fall Excursion - 1986
Back before the NSSR began operation, LS&M was the only show in town and it wasn't uncommon to have all trains sold-out on nice fall weekends. Here engine 46, still wearing its tired Flambeau Paper colors, heads under the DM&IR's Interstate Branch and Highway 39. The crossing 46 is rolling over was for loaded trucks to use as a bypass for the weight-restricted highway bridge, which would be torn down soon after this with the grade crossing becoming the main highway crossing (as it is today).
