DIY Bed Extender parts
In response to add mulch here. Toyota sells bed extenders for like $200 and it wouldn't do a well with mulch.
Does it add space to the bed off the pick up? Yes. Is it needed? No. Will it get used? I am sure at least 3 times, probably no more than 10.
With the hinges I am sure it will store away much better than the Toyota model. In fact I can fit it behind the rear seats. Let me see you do that with the Toyota model. It needs another coat of paint, but I wanted to show you the unpainted parts.
Parts used:
16” wide paint grade furniture panel from Lowes
2 sets of gate hinges
2 sets of gate latch posts
Primer black paint
36 - 1”x 1/4” x 20 bolts with washers and nuts. (No I didn’t bust any nuts)
Volume added 57"x16"x17" = 15 504 cubic inch = 0.332 304 526 75 cubic yard.
