Magic Moments

It hadn't rained that night

and nothing was forecast for the coming day.

As I walked out of the house,

the sun wasn't even risen yet

over the distant slopes of the Cascade Mountains.

And still, there it was to the west- the beautiful arc of a rainbow before dawn.

It only lasted briefly, so to catch a plane as it passed by

delighted me further.

I'd say it's a safe bet I'll never see such a thing again.
