Aguas Calientes
Aguas Calientes (Hot Waters) This creek bisects this town, which is sandwiched in a very narrow hollow between the steep mountains. It is the gateway town to Machu Picchu. The buses pick you up here for the very interesting ride the dirt, switchback road up to Machu Picchu. I would not want to be in this area if there were every a hard, sustained rain. The rushing water would overflow and wipe out all of these buildings.
