Taken on 27th April 1952 on a very early tour, forerunner of many superb outings over the years, of the West Yorkshire Information Service. The area covered this day was the Yorkshire Dales with several depot visits.
Those of us with enough decades behind us will remember the superb interiors of West Yorkshire coaches of the period - polished woodwork, pale green glossy panels, soft green rubber gangways, comfortable green moquette seats and really classy light covers were among the appealing features which gave even the nine hour trek (with three meal stops) marathon to London Victoria a relaxing ambience - and not forgetting of course the pleasing tones ot the smooth Bristol engines and the "supertop" overdrive, the latter giving a feeling of "really getting somewhere." Times have changed though, and the top speed of these fine vehicles would sadly be found somewhat lacking in today's hectic motoring.
