summit rainforest with water gum (Tristaniopsis collina) on right

Mount Royal summit, 1185 metres above sea level - Hill Water Gum, (Tristaniopsis collina).

The mountain summit marker is invisible from the air or nearby mountains, as the 5 metre tall rainforest has covered the ground again.

The summit of the mountain is covered in low rainforest. The basalt plateau up top has rainforest up to 20 metres tall. The edges of the basalt areas are rocky, covered in moss, ferns and nettles.

The slope of the mountain is eucalyptus country with a grassy forest floor.
