Defining the Sky

Defining the sky,

small leaves lilt upwards,

syllables of a pointed vocabulary,

curving into their own vernacular,

of bud, of tendril, of tenacious vine.

Urgent as light, vivid as sorrow,

even the ivy seeks language,

an occasion for truth.
