Cardenal was once a Trappist monk at Gethsemani. Marechal is a dear friend and the novice director at Holy Spirit. Actually he is my spiritual director. I took his book with me, along with far too many others, to the Pascal Triduum retreat at OLHS a couple of weeks ago. His was the only book I found myself spending time reading. It is such a beautiful book. I would encourage anyone who is any sort of spiritual seeker at all to read it.
