Wild Thyme, Green Magic - Jack Vance

The latest retrospective collection of some of his lesser known stories, although how often has Green Magic been collected now!? Wild Thyme refers to the rarest piece of his in the book: a synopsis of a planned historical novel set in Italy! One of his mysteries was set in Italy, but it was contemporary. The other obscure pieces are two brief biographical articles by his late wife, Norma, recalling some of his, and their, early life.

The other stories included are:

Assault on a City (thankfully with the original publication title restored!)

The World Thinker (his first published story)

The Augmented Agent (aka I-C-A-BEM)

Coup de Grace (a Magnus Riddolph case)

Chateau d'If (I just read this a couple of weeks ago - see comments about it under the U/M collection of the same name)

The Potters of Firsk (one of the very few stories of his to be dramatized - I quite like the old radio play of it)

The Seventeen Virgins (the first Cugel tale for years after The Eyes of the Overworld was published. It first appeard in F&SF's 25th Anniversary Issue, iirc. )

Ullward's Retreat

Seven Exits From Bocz (should have been a Twilight Zone episode!)
