New Beijing, by Wang Xingwei
This was painted in 2001, the year Beijing was awarded the 2008 Summer Olympics. The title came from the slogan of "New Beijing, Great Olympics" which was used for the bid. In this work, the injured students have been replaced by injured penguins, reflecting the scrubbing of history by the Chinese government.
