Samsul belongs to a small community of Javanese farmers living at 2000 meters above sea level on the Dieng Plateau, a series of ancient volcano craters with the perfect climate for growing subtropical-highland vegetables such as cabbage, tobacco and potatoes. “I like my president, but the harvest price is down,” Samsul says, peering at misty land that has been in his family for three generations.
