Answer:
This is the tab used to pull out the measuring tape from its casing when you wish to take a measurement.
That unhappy metal face measures 19 mm X 13 mm and it is 1.2 mm thick.
Measuring Tape / Maatband / Roll Meter / Meetlint / Maßband
