1949 Ford F-1 RHD “807 YUC” (2)
Front-quarter onside shot of a 1949 Ford F-1 fendered-bed, ½-ton pickup truck, painted in retouched “Meadow Green” (otherwise known as “Niles Blue Green”, although the photos make it appear blue), complete w/ original 239-CID “Flathead” V8, 3-speed floor-mounted helical transmission. This truck is quite unique in that it is a Canadian-sourced right-hand-drive (RHD) example assembled (and sold new) in New Zealand. Note that in the states these were known as Ford “F-1” trucks, however the Canadian-built + sourced examples were branded “F-47” - based on the gross vehicle weight, (not to be confused with the ‘Mercury’ branded trucks), yet for commonwealth territories and the Asia-Pacific market, the truck still appears to be branded an “F-1” model.
The truck is fitted w/ an age-related, six-character black plate; “807 YUC” (the DVLA websites identifies the vehicle as a 1948 model, but it is a ‘49), and now resides up here in Ryedale, North Yorkshire, U.K. The friendly owner uses it in the spring and summer months. I have often saw this truck driving about for the past couple of the years, but have neve been able to get a decent picture of it until today. The owner was happy “someone finally knew exactly what it was, and knew that it was all factory-built, and wasn’t a custom RHD conversion!
