1939 Ford Coupe
A rear bodyshell of a US-built 1939 Ford 2-door, ‘5-window’ Coupe. I am not sure if this was originally a Deluxe or a Standard model; according to research, no '39 Ford coupe had any rear seat. The car still had a VIN plaque on the cowl. This example was in very rough condition, with most of the parts missing, very little trim, no front clip, no fenders, lots of corrosion, rust and harsh rot around all edges, also no floors, gutted interior (other than a driver’s sun-visor and some original dash gauges), no steering column or powertrain, and a harsh dent along the offside of the body. The original chassis was long since removed, and an inferior replacement frame was welded underneath. However, the owner is a very skilled sheet metal worker, fabricator and experienced auto body specialist who is confident he can transform this survivor into a serous kustom restomod someday. More power to him! The car over to the right of the picture, obscured undercover is the bodyshell of a 1957 Chevy 2-door post-sedan.
Spotted outside a specialist auto garage in North Yorkshire, U.K.
I was in the area of an agricultural-type commercial business/industrial park out in a fairly local location, arrived a little early for an appointment, and decided to have a short gander just on the chance - the off-chance that I might see something somewhat interesting around the corner here (I occasionally find “interesting” things in these such areas), saw an old neglected bulldozer, a late type 1 VW Beetle, and as it just so happened - there this ’39 Ford was! With a ’57 Chevy bodyshell next to it! Just goes to show - There are still lots of old cars about! Even this far into the 21st century, there are still so many interesting things still waiting to be discovered!
