1960 Vauxhall Victor Super [F] “609 PPA” (6)

Front-quarter Offside view of a lovely British-built 1960 Vauxhall Victor Series II 4-Door, 4-5-Passenger Saloon, [F]; This two-tone paint scheme looks to be “Vauxhall Banff Blue” over “Silver Grey Metallic” – W/ matching blue vinyl interior, complete W/ period aftermarket luggage rack and vintage AA/RAC badges. The original six-character registration black/silver plate – “609 PPA” is a Surrey registration of April 1960. The car would’ve been built at the former Vauxhall plant in Luton, Bedfordshire.

This was GM’s attempt at a “miniature 1955-‘57 Chevy” for the U.K. – notice the abundance of chrome trim, slight “wraparound” windscreen, luxurious interior W/ 3-Spd column-change transmission, whitewall tires, vibrant colours, and the tailfins – of which, the taillight housing bears a slight – albeit much smaller resemblance to those of a 1958 Oldsmobile.

Spotted strapped onto a trailer outside one of the buildings owned by the famous Mathewsons family auction houses in Thornton-Le-Dale, Ryedale, North Yorkshire, U.K., September 2022.
