1957 Austin Metropolitan “469 UYE” (1)

Offside front-quarter view of a 1957 Austin Metropolitan 1500 2-Door, 4-Passenger Hardtop Coupe, [562]; Still wearing its original 6-character black plate registration - a circa early 1958 London-based registration prefix of “469 UYE”.

A classic “commuter-economy” car, the Metropolitan was arguably one of the first major “global cars” - partially-designed in Italy, built by BMC and badged as an “Austin” in Longbridge, Birmingham, England - Also imported, badged and sold by American Motors as a Hudson, Nash - and as a standalone “Metropolitan” brand in the USA.

This very original example was spotted in Kirkbymoorside, Ryedale, North Yorkshire, U.K., in July, 2022.

This car was featured on "Curbside Classic" - one of my most favorite websites - chosen by Mr. Paul Niedermeyer - one of my most favorite automotive writers on the 'net! - www.curbsideclassic.com/blog/cc-cohort/cohort-classic-195...
