1962 Land Rover 88” Series IIA Pickup – “282 DLT”
This is a 1962 Land Rover Series IIA 88” 2-Door, 3-Passenger 4X4 Short Wheelbase Pickup, featuring an inline-4-cylinder Diesel engine. The paint colour scheme – if original, looks to be a corroded/faded state of “Trident Green”. Period stickers and an original metal AA badge can still be seen on the front. The vehicle’s registration – “282 DLT” is on a pre-’63 six-character black plate, and is originally a London area registration, dating to January 1962.
This vehicle is owned by the neighbour of a friend of mine; this neighbour is a retired HGV driver, now farmer/mechanic who owns several classic and interesting commercial vehicles, many of which he still uses daily – including this Land Rover – I frequently see this example out-and-about on the roads, still faithfully working hard, earning its keep at nearly 60 years old!
This picture was taken up in Ryedale, North Yorkshire, U.K., on the 12th of November 2021. A nice late-Autumn shot.
