The Story of the Mother's Day Roses
This rosebush has bloomed on Mother's Day for the past 33 years. It was given as a Mother's Day gift in 1986.
From that year on, it has bloomed directly on Mother's Day each year. Its number of blooms has roughly corresponded to how many children, and eventually grandchildren, the mother in question had.
The year of the pic (2014), it had died all the way to the ground*, but has grown back and is thriving...though the time it needed to recover meant it was a little late blooming, that year.
You can see some vinca growing to the right of the rosebush. It's great for low light.
