The Myth of the Honeybee Famine

A few people try to claim that without honeybees,

everyone would starve to death. They are wrong

Almost every crop humans commonly use

can do just fine without honeybees. They are:

• Wind pollinated (all grains, many nuts, all brassicas like cabbage and broccoli)

• Self-pollinated (Solanums like tomatoes/peppers/eggplant, oranges, peanuts, all legumes)

• Not Fruit Crops (leaves like lettuce, roots like potatoes, unfertilized like bananas)

And, most importantly, most plants that do need pollinators are served by thousands of other species. This includes ALL New World plants, because honeybees are an invasive species in the Americas.
