Fire at "Glenveagh", Kingaham Valley, Queensland
I believe this fire was lit deliberately and not by the owner nor by the leaseholder! I believe it was arson. Sadly!
Being the first on the scene in this relatively remote area, we quickly assessed the situation, went back along the road to get help and to raise the alarm. Before the rural fire brigade teams arrived, we used branches to extinguish the flames in the grass around the homestead and around the main shed.
Thankfully the grass was still somewhat green and the humidity was not very low, so the fire advanced at a reasonably slow pace and with low flame front. Buildings were saved, and the fire extinguished. Fences, a power-pole and gates were burnt. The result has been that the fire became a 'naturally controlled' burn prior to the high risk fire season of next spring and summer.
