There are many brilliant landscape photographers in New Zealand today - partly a product of the stunning landscapes of New Zealand. One that made Lake Matheson famous was Ulrich Walthert (Coast Photography). His image of the lake reflecting the snowcapped peaks of the Southern Alps was and is a classic image.
I realized I was drawn to this lake because of Ulrich's photograph, so I made a point of visiting him at his home, thanking and affirming him. All work from photographing developing printing to presentation, including developing and printing, is done by Mr Walthert with the best equipment. We were shown through his workshop and we counted that as another great privilege.
