The blocky and jointed geology is Marumba beds, a metamorphic rock that formed as clay sediments in a submarine graben, and eventually uplifted during a mountain building phase. The clay has derived from volcanic rocks (probably andesitic rocks). Because it was once clay there is no grit in the rocks, so when wet they are as slippery as ice. Climbers be aware!
Yabba Falls (Top Plunge) drops 80m into The Showerroom. Dominic has abseiled down the falls in the water, for Kathmandu magazine. He is believed to be the first to do so, although SAS soldiers have trained in the area at one time, and the recovery of a body after a fatal fall has occurred previously but by different routes..
