『 GILLEAD 』< PROLOUGE >

“ What is it Cass…? “

The glitching sound from her Net-Com implant crackled into her mind, her Inworld companion sensing her discomfort. Gillead. He was not but three floors below in this building they shared together, in his stupor. He didn’t often come load into the IRL unless to relieve himself or to relieve her of her urges , of which she had many. He must’ve thought he sensed one of them through their unique cyber connection, but it was not the case.

“ A girl. “

She simply said back through their mind connection. Her eyes narrowed in on the way the girl in the grass began to step forward , shaky and scared. Two arms crossed in front of herself like she was … holding something precious.

“ A pregnant girl. “

The butterfly within her cyber link fluttered as she drew in breath , discarding her burning stick. The technology and metal cording that ran through her limbs, delivering her superhuman speed to descend over the top of the building and land lightly at her feet was well crafted after many years of plucking scraps from the garbage heaps here. One girl from the towers was odd enough, and none of Cassandra’s concern.

But a baby… for the barren ones that were left in the Wasteland… this was something of importance. The cannibals would not eat this child.

Gillead traced his hands through the connection of his inner body, releasing himself from his connect to the Inworld.

Cass’s words were confusing, jumbled, and he was concerned. Rising from his slumber was always hard, his body was more metal than man, and often his joints would freeze up in the cold. With a grunt he lifted himself with straining arms from his roosting place, pulling various plugs and cords from the entry points of his body. Pink glowing eyes flashed in their attempts to disconnect the last of his connection to Inworld, as he gathered up his nearby harpoon gun in case there was a danger.

Cassandra would gladly fight alone but he was not one to let her take on the task... that was the nature of being PARTNERED.
