Description of Subject Matter:
In this selfie, I am standing by a symbol that I printed on the floor of Thompson Library. Thompson is one of the main libraries on campus and is one of the locations where I spend a lot of my time. I go to the library mostly every day, and if not every day, at least a few times a week. The quiet atmosphere of the library allows me to focus on my work and is perfect for when I'm studying for exams. I find that this is one of the only places where I don't get interrupted. Additionally, whenever I need an extra energy boost, I'm able to order some coffee from Berry Cafe. In this particular photograph, I was on my way out of the library after working on homework with my friend Nathan. The shoes that I"m wearing in the photograph are my Uggs, which indicate that I was having a lazy day and simply needed to get some work done.
Relationship to Theme/Story:
This image correlates with the overarching theme of "My College Experience" because it shows somewhere I have spent a lot of time at in the past two years. Additionally, this selfie made a difference in the way I see myself because it shows that I put a large emphasis on my academics. I am constantly proud of the amount of work that I am able to accomplish on a daily basis. Additionally, it shows that I am willing to spend my time at a place that allows me to get the most work done, even though I much rather prefer staying in my dorm/bed. In conclusion, this selfie is important to my identity because it shows how my education has helped to shape me into the person that I am today. As seen in the photograph, I am proud to be a student at the Ohio State University and I would surely be different had I attended any other school. Because education is such a large part of my identity, it also shapes what I desire. As you will see in the proceeding slides, one of my desires as a college student is to get good grades.
