Peace Monument

”God on the rainbow” is an approximately 23 meter high sculpture of Carl Milles at the entrance to the marina in Nacka Strand.

Carl Milles (1875-1955) made this sculpture back in 1946 as a peace monument and a remark of the creation of the United Nations.

The sculpture is now in full scale as Carl once wanted it to be. It was made by Marshall M. Fredericks (1908-1998) who for many years was an assistant to Milles at the Cranbook Academy of Art.

The sculpture shows God standing on top of an 18 meters high bow in stainless steel.

The bow represents the sky and at the ground an angel is placed stretching stars to God who in turn place them in the sky.

The sculpture was put in place by Nacka Strand Förvaltning AB and was inaugurated on September 8, 1995 by His Royal Highness Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia.
