A supermoon is a full or new moon that coincides with a close approach by the Moon to the Earth. However this is the biggest 'Supermoon' in 18 years. 10% larger and 15% brighter. Saturday's supermoon was just 221,566 miles (356,577 kilometers) away from Earth. The last time the full moon approached so close to Earth was in 1993, according to NASA.
