Moon and Saturn (with rings) close conjunction
One shot photo taken in Blackheath common in London during a very brief window when Saturn was in close conjunction with the moon after Sunset before the Moon and Saturn themselves set an hour later.
Saturn is on the right hand side (click to view full screen to see the rings).
I couldn't get a sharper capture due to the low altitude and after sunset glow but was still a treat to enjoy the conjunction with my 8" Cassegrain telescope using a low wide field power eyepiece to fit both Moon and Saturn in the view. A rare treat I haven't witnessed before. I didnt expect much due to the low altitude. but surprisingly looked great in the eyepiece. With less time remainiing before they set, I quickly swapped the eyepiece out with my Canon 650D dslr camera and took multiple shots, out of which this one seems to be the better.
Capture details:
Telescope: Nextstar 8se (8" SCT) with F6.3 focal reducer to fit both Moon and Saturn in
Mount: Nexstar 8SE
Camera: Canon EOS 650D
