Windsor Castle

The Round Tower and Moat Garden. The Motte was originally crowned with a wooden pallisade whcih was succeeded by two shell keeps in quick succession, the second of which comprises the lower half of the current structure, and dates from the 1220s and the minority of Henry III. The Interior was re-built in 1355-8 for Edward III. Sir Jeffry Wyatville raised the Tower by two stories in 1828. The interior of the Tower was further re-modelled in 1989-91 by the Building Design Partnership. The Garden was landscaped in the late 19th, early 20th century.
