Peek-A-Boo Sun

Sunset over Lake Okeechobee. A big cloud bank settled in and made for a great backlit cloud.

This was a bittersweet time for me, in one of my favorite places to photograph, Lake Okeechobee. My Dad had passed away the week before and I had to decide whether to ditch my camera club trip or continue as planned (I was kind of in charge and I had bailed on so many other duties the months prior to this). I went with it. I'm so glad I did too. It was a beautiful weekend, and despite the grief I was not worrying about what comes next. The previous couple of years there was always that fear of that phone call. There would be no phone call, it had already happened. I was able to just let go and enjoy nature as it was intended.
