THE MASK OF TUTANKHAMUN, CAIRO MUSEUM.
The funeral mask found on the mummy of Tutankhamun is perhaps the most iconic artifact from the ancient world being immediately recognised today - anywhere. It was originally thought the mask was made specially for Tutankhamun but new evidence shows the gold of the face being of a different type to the rest of the mask leading to speculation that the original face had been removed in antiquity and replaced with one for Tutankhamun. There are signs on the inside of the mask showing a major structural change around the face along the edges of the headdress where the original was cut out and the new face attached. This view has been supported recently with evidence of another persons cartouche (name) underneath that of Tutankhamun.
This confirms the view that much of his treasure was originally made for someone else. Major items showing indications of having been made for another are the stone sarcophagus in his tomb, at least one of the coffins, the four gold canopic coffinettes (that have very different faces from Tutankhamun) and now the mask..
That "other person" would appear to be Nefertiti.
