Je to jako s námi lidmi. Žiješ padesát, sedmdesát, devadesát let, ale historie si tě - pokud vůbec - bude pamatovat třeba jen z pěti roků. Nebo jenom z jednoho. Profesionální hokejisti, fotbalisti nebo atleti by mohli vyprávět. 15 minut slávy.
Mají to tak i mašiny. Kdo si dneska vzpomene na T478.4049 v Chomutově, klasický dobový unifik s úzkým žlutým pruhem? Na devadesátkový nátěr vz. 88? Vsadím se, že až se jednou bude na brejlovce jenom vzpomínat, bude pro lidi "49ka" navždycky taková: červená bleskovka v obměně s černým rámem a střechou.
A tohle jsou ty nejlepší roky její brněnské éry: po dílnách a menších modernizacích, s rychlíky do Jihlavy a občas i někam jinam kolem Brna. Už v době, kdy se velkým mašinám věnuje mnohem víc pozornosti a obecně víc se i fotí. Obletovaná princezna, ne jen jedna z mnoha.
Je sobota 27. února, koryta řek plná vody, sem tam povodňový stupeň a obleva už došla i sem na Vysočinu. Je teplej, krásnej den, snad deset stupňů. Ale než zmizí i poslední sníh téhle báječné zimy, máme ještě chvíli čas. Blbneme s Vandou i se psem ve sněhu, koulujeme se - a přitom je na triko. A pak přijde hlavní bonus dne: těsně před třetí hodinou odpoledne uhání přes zastávku Bítovčice plzeňský rychlík R 665 Jakub Krčín.
Krátké zaburácení ze zářezu, ale tady se moc tahat nemusí, celá trať do Brna tady klesá podél řeky Jihlavy až někam do Číchova. A už je tady: nádherná, ještě pořád sytě barevná a jako nová. 754.049 v nejlepších letech.

Did you ever hear of 15 Minutes of Fame? I guess you have, because it is somehing that most of us experience at some stage of our life and only thing that vaies is the amount of that fame. But the principle stands: in the memories of the others or public, we all are remembered mostly for just a smaller parts of our lives.
Same goes for trains and this is a perfect example. "Goggles" 754.049. Once she was an ordinary one in depot Chomutov, pulling all kinds of trains to Cheb or Prague; a classic 1980's uniform with dark red body and a narrow yellow "warning" stripe on both ends, in 1990's she had received the upgraded paint of "Type 88" with wider yellow all-around band. But her golden years were still to come.
Somewhere in the late 2000's (2007?) in Brno she had received minor modifications and a new paint, the famous "Flash" one, this time with unique black frame and roof. Adding the fact that all these diesel locomotives are much more closely followed (and documented) these days, this is really her 15 Minutes of Fame. Still freshly and vividly painted, hauling fast trains on one of the most beautiful tracks between Brno and Jihlava.
It is Saturday, the 27th of February 2010 and the snow is almost melting; it is around 10 degrees above zero and you can feel the winter is finally coming to an end. But we still have some time to get this one...
