Nidderdale - Gouthwaite Sheep

These sheep were grazing near to Gouthwaite Reservoir in Nidderdale, North Yorkshire. They were taking great interest on people passing on the footpath

 

The ewe is a Dalesbred which is a hardy, dual-purpose sheep breed from northern England, known for its resilience in upland terrain and distinctive facial markings. It has a black face with a white spot on each side and a grey muzzle tip

 

Ewes are often crossed with Teeswater rams to produce the Masham, a well-known British crossbreed which "might" be the case here
