Big boy's toy
When I was young and in my youth, I had a fascination about construction equipment such as excavators, diggers, dumpers, bulldozers, tractors and motor scrappers. This fascination was fuelled by the fact that were my parents lived was surrounded by various construction sites for nearly 10 years. First was Moorclose School, followed by Moorclose Swimming Baths followed by Moorclose Playing Fields and finally Moorclose Sports Centre this was over a 10 year period between 1968 and 1978. In the evening and weekends me and my friends would go around the construction site and climb onto the various construction equipment and sit in the cabs and pretend that we were operating them. Enough about my misspent youth, I am still interested in construction equipment and I like to photograph them. JCB are still the market leaders in excavators and their famous backhoe loader, my photograph shows a JCB JS220 22-tonne tracked excavator owned by G & AM Lawson Ltd who operate from Whinbank Farm, Distington, Workington. The letters JCB are the initials of the founder of the company Joseph Cyril Bamford.
