To meet the project of place photography, I utilized movement and emphasis to successfully complete this project. The movement is demonstrated through the vertical column-like structures. They essentially lead the eye from the ground all the way up to the sky. The interesting textures and warn colors really help the movement become more intriguing. The emphasis is demonstrated through the broad scale of the large towering columns compared to the "little" artist painting. The eye is drawn to the artist because of her contrasting colors with the bland towers and her hand as it is completing a task.

 

To create this image, I walked around my parents home town, Columbus, Indiana and came across the courthouse. I was primarily intrigued by the artist painting the courthouse and tried to capture that. I simply turned around to discover the large memorial. I loved how I could capture the size difference and decided to use the image.

 

I really like the scale I captured in this image, and I'm proud of my work and think I did a good job.

 

If I could change one thing, I would try to capture the top of the memorial to fully capture the movement.
