Aerial photo of the St Lawrence Cricket Ground in Canterbury, complete with original lime tree, taken from a Lynx helicopter, 2 Aug 88

On 1 August 1988, I was sitting in the crewroom at 829 Sqn at Portland minding my own business when the Senior Pilot walked in. "I'm off on a round-Britain navex tomorrow and SOBS (Senior Observer) now can't do it. Is there any Observer who would like to come with me?" he asked. I had nothing planned and thought it sounded like fun so said yes. What he didn't say was that neither he nor SOBS had done any planning for the trip, so it was a late night that night while I prepped the route and booked us into the different low flying areas (most was flown at a height of 100 feet) and various air stations for fuel. I managed to take some photos where friends lived on the way around. Scan of original photo taken with Chinon SLR.
