20150525 IC5148 Spare Tyre Nebula LRGB

Planetary nebula IC5148, nicknamed the Spare Tyre Nebula is located in the southern constellation of Grus (The Crane). At a distance of around 3,000 light years it is expanding at a rate of 50km per second, giving it one of the fastest expansion rates of all planetary nebula.

Faint with an apparent magnitude of 16.5 and small with apparent dimensions of 2'x2' this was imaged remotely with a 700mm f/6.6 (fl 4531mm) Planewave Corrected Dall-Kirkham Astrograph using a FLI PLO09000 CCD from SSO Australia (iTelescope T27)

Luminance 6x600 seconds

R, G & B channels 300 seconds each

Stacked in DSS and processed in PS CS6
