Buzz pollination
Common Carder bee 'buzz pollinating' tomato plants: tomatoes are self-fertile, and capable of self pollination, but insect visits are needed to move pollen from the anthers to the stigma of the flower. Bumblebees are excellent pollinators of tomatoes, and they may ensure a bigger crop, with larger tomato fruits. The buzzing noise that the bee makes to dislodge pollen from tomato flowers sounds quite different to the buzzing noise they make in flight.
