According to the painter's biography, in 1924 Tarsila had just arrived back from Paris, where she spent some time studying Cubism, Futurism and Expressionism, and decided to include the Eiffel Tower as a "souvenir" of that period in this painting, a kind of freedom and phantasy given by the fact that carnival was just its main theme.
