Wenn man gute Vorsätze fast (nicht vergessen: bald ist wieder die Zeit dafür) oder sich eine neue Gewohnheit aneignen will, gilt es als hilfreich, anderen davon zu erzählen, um die Verbindlichkeit für sich selbst zu erhöhen. Und was für einen guten Vorsatz oder eine neue Gewohnheit gilt, sollte für ein Projekt, das einen etwas längeren Atem erfordert und bei dem Schwierigkeiten und Verzögerungen vorprogrammiert sind, vielleicht auch nicht verkehrt sein.
Nun denn: Der Sekretär ist in Deutschland aufgewachsen. Doch im kommenden Jahr wird es ein viertel Jahrhundert sein, dass seine damals noch junge Familie in die Schweiz zog. Und in diesem Jahr hat er mit den Vorbereitungen eines völlig verrückten Projektes begonnen, dass ihn das nächste und mindestens einen Gutteil des übernächsten Jahres beschäftigen wird: Er will in jedem der 26 Schweizer Kantone die an Einwohnern kleinste Ortschaft besuchen und dort fotografieren. Und um den Grad an Verrücktheit noch etwas zu erhöhen, wird er das Projekt analog realisieren und in jedem der beuchten Orte genau einen Film belichten. 36 Bilder, keines mehr und keines weniger.
Derzeit ist der Sekretär dabei, die betreffenden Orte zu recherchierten (was für einige Kantone sehr einfach ist, für andere aber nicht so trivial wie man meinen könnte) und hat 30 identische Farbnegativfilme besorgt, es ist ja nicht mehr immer alles Filmmaterial verfügbar. 26 Filme werden für die Aufnahmen benötigt, und vier dienen als Reserve. Nach einiger Überlegung und Beratung hat er sich mit dem Kodak ColorPlus 200 für einen Klassiker entschieden.
Was er am Ende mit den Bildern anstellen wird, weiss der Sekretär noch nicht. Idealerweise werden einige der Bilder zu einem Bildband.
Mit dem Kauf der Filme ist übrigens auch ein theoretisches Enddatum für die fotografische Arbeit vorgegeben. Das angegeben Ablaufdatum der Filme ist August 2027…

If you want to make good resolutions (don't forget: it will soon be that time again) or adopt a new habit, it is helpful to tell others about it in order to increase your commitment to yourself. And what applies to a good resolution or a new habit may not be a bad idea for a project that requires a little more endurance and where difficulties and delays are inevitable.
Well then: Secretary grew up in Germany. But next year it will be a quarter of a century since his then young family moved to Switzerland. And this year he has begun preparations for a completely crazy project that will keep him busy for the next year and at least a good part of the year after that: He wants to visit the smallest settlement in each of the 26 Swiss cantons and take photographs there. And to increase the level of craziness even further, he will carry out the project on film and expose exactly one roll of film in each of the places he visits. 36 pictures, no more and no less.
Currently, Secretary is in the process of researching the locations in question (which is very easy for some cantons, but not as trivial as one might think for others) and has obtained 30 identical color negative films, as not all film material is still available. 26 rolls of film are needed for the shootings, and four serve as reserves. After some consideration and consultation, he opted for a classic: Kodak ColorPlus 200.
Secretary does not yet know what he will ultimately do with the pictures. Ideally, some of them will make it into a coffee table book.
Incidentally, the purchase of the film rolls also sets a theoretical end date for the photographic work. Their expiration date is August 2027...
