Die Douglas DC-3 (mit den militärischen Varianten Douglas C-47 und Douglas Dakota) ist laut Wikipedia das bis heute in der grössten Stückzahl gefertigte Passagier- bzw. Transportflugzeug, und mit Sicherheit eines der bekanntesten. Für die Swissair flogen 16 Maschinen von 1937 bis 1969. Die Maschine mit der Kennung HB-IRO als Vorbild des Modelles wurde 1938 beschafft und bis 1955 von der Swissair geflogen, anschliessend verkauft. Die roten und weissen Streifen an Rumpf und Tragflächen zeigten als «Neutralitätsstreifen» die Zugehörigkeit zu einem neutralen Staat an. Die Taschenuhr ist ein Schweizer Qualitätsprodukt von Longines, wohl aus den 1920er Jahren. Die Kamera ist eine ab 1955 hergestellte FED-2. In ihrer äusseren Gestalt und auch Teilen ihrer Konstruktion kann sie ihre Entwicklungsgeschichte aus einer Leica II-Kopie nicht verheimlichen, weisst aber ´gegenüber dieser viele Unterscheidungsmerkmale und Weiterentwicklungen auf.
Ein trauriger aktueller Bezug, der nicht unerwähnt bleiben soll (auch wenn er dem Sekretär bei der Aufnahme des Bildes nicht bewusst war), ist der Sitz des Herstellers FED, die im heutigen Krieg umkämpfte und von massivem russischem Beschuss betroffenen ukrainischen Stadt Charkiw. Und der Name «FED» leitet sich (gemäss Wikipedia) von Felix Dserschinski ab, dem Gründer des sowjetischen Geheimdienstes Tscheka.

And the name "FED" is derived (according to Wikipedia) from Felix Dzerzhinsky, the founder of the Soviet secret service Cheka.
