Channa Paneer and a Mary Pickford Cocktail
2011, Week 2:
I went with a double-header this week - a curry and a cocktail. The curry was a Channa Paneer - a spicy cheese and chick pea curry from Raghavan Iyer's 660 Curries. It was good - though I made it perhaps a bit too spicy. It was right at my comfort level, which means that my wife ate it through clenched teeth (which is actually pretty tricky, if you think about it). It had a solid flavor, but could have used a little more depth - maybe a shot of acid. The chick peas and paneer were great together; they had an interesting contrast of textures. And you'd have to look pretty hard to find a dish with more protein in it.
As always, I topped it with excessive amounts of cilantro.
Grade - B+
