During the breeding season, the aggregations of Olive Ridley females

on some of their nesting beaches is immense, a phenomenon known as an

‘arribada’. Thousands of females may crawl up a section of a beach in

the course of 2-3 days. Each female may lay 2-3 clutches of eggs over

the season, participating in several arribadas during the breeding

months. Each time, her eggs are susceptible to almost immediate

harvest.
