Sammy, a card board side table was thought to be used during a period of time which usually the users can just afford essential things and furniture, but they also want some level of comfort during their free time, watching TV, reading a book, for exemple. Generally, when people buy a big TV, they can make use of some free furniture that can be made by using their boxes, with the bônus of having a good design at home.
The initial concept was based on a special moment during my childhood when I used to make picture frames with cardboard boxes to my mother every time she came back from the grocery store with some of it. That is why the structure of Sammy resembles a big version of this memory and why it is a furniture that can be used to display some family moments or objects with affective memory.
The product is easy to assemble, the user just needs to fold its back leg and the top, and glue two "bulkheads" on the bottom of the top and the back leg. To make it stable two locks are used to fit the two front legs in place. With 50 centimeters high and 60 x 42 centimeters area, the side table is perfect to small spaces, since it could be shortened by cutting its legs and top. It also can be painted and as well as have its edges cut to make different models and fit different spaces.
Sammy is a product the user can have for a long time as a substitute from an item of furniture that could have more environmental impact which is not worthy to spend money on it once it is not a hard use product as a table or a chair.
