waiting for figgy pudding

We Wish you a Merry Christmas,

We Wish you a Merry Christmas,

We Wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Good tidings we bring to you and your kin.

We Wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Now, bring us some figgy pudding,

Now, bring us some figgy pudding,

Now, bring us some figgy pudding, and bring it out here!

Good tidings we bring to you and your kin.

We Wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

For we all like figgy pudding,

For we all like figgy pudding,

For we all like figgy pudding, so bring it out here!

Good tidings we bring to you and your kin.

We Wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

And we won't go until we got some,

and we won't go until we got some,

and we won't go until we got some, so bring some out here!

Good tidings we bring to you and your kin.

We Wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

the song is thought to date all the way back to the 16th or 17th century.

But for its present version is by the composer Arthur Warrell, who published a carol in 1939 called ‘A Merry Christmas’. He admitted that he had been inspired by a traditional English song, written some time before.
